5 Healthy Eating Hacks To Make Healthy Eating Easier
Life can get super busy and often leaves you with no time to cook a decent healthy meal. That's why we've put together a few, easy healthy eating hacks for you to use when you need some nutrition in your life but have no time!
1. Add spinach to almost any dish
Probably the easiest hack ever. Buy a big container of spinach and throw in a handful into almost anything - your morning breakfast smoothie, soup (like minestrone - yum!) or one of your salads as a side dish for dinner! If you're someone who struggles to eat their greens, this hack is for you! Spinach has a very mild taste, so go ahead and add in as many handfuls as you want to your meal for an added boost of nutrients. Spinach is known to be packed full of iron, vitamin C & E, potassium and magnesium and is super helpful for your skin, hair and bone health! You don't want to miss out on this one!
2. Sprinkle chia seeds into your smoothie, oatmeal or on top of toast for an antioxidant boost
Chia seeds are another favorite superfood. They contain quercetin - an antioxidant that helps to reduce the risk of heart disease. Chia seeds are also high in fiber which aids in lowering high blood pressure. Because of their high fiber content it can reduce appetite which can help with weight loss. Chia seeds are known to reduce blood sugar levels making this a staple for people who have diabetes. The best part is how versatile they are - you can add a few teaspoons to your smoothie, on top of some greek yogurt with fruit, in your oatmeal, baked goods or even make a pudding out of it! 3. Increase your vitamin C intake with citrus fruits
Lemons, limes, oranges and grapefruits are jam-packed full of vitamin C and have amazing benefits for your skin and health. If you're too busy to peel an orange or eat a grapfruit, you can always squeeze some of the juice into your water bottle to take with you on the go to work, the gym or when running errands. Or, slice up a bunch of lemons, limes and oranges, place them on a tray and pop them in the freezer to cool down your drink with a boost of vitamin C! Did you know that dark chocolate is also rich in antioxidants? It is known to help with blood pressure, and has potential to reduce your risk of heart disease! Add chunks of it to your baking instead of regular milk chocolate to make your desserts just a "tad" healthier.
